Not able to play any map besides "Village"

Hey there everyone!

I wanted some help in learning how to use your mod in CoD, I'm entirely new to it so I might not know what I'm doing.

I downloaded the latest version of your Mod from the website (0.7) and started CoD 4 and selected "rotu-r-alpha" from the mods section,

Now I started a server with village map (Other maps don't work) and even played it perfectly on Lan with my bros and it was awesome.

But now I wanted to play other maps with the mod so I downloaded the map pack provided here as of recent on the forums but can't play any of them besides "Village".

I did everything from putting the maps in the right place to getting on other servers with same maps/mod and still it doesn't work.
(You can play the new maps on the online servers but very bad internet in place so lag and want to play it on Lan instead).

What I want is to play the New maps with your Mod on a New server.

Greatly appreciate your dedication and work!

You can try running a dedicated server. I assume you're on windows?

Rightclick on your iw3mp.exe in your CoD4 installation folder -> Send to -> Desktop (Create link)

Now right click the new link file on your Desktop -> Properties -> under Target move your cursor behind the last ", add a space and add this:

Source code

1
+set fs_game Mods/rotu-r-alpha +set dedicated 1 +set net_port 28960 +set net_ip <your_lan_IP> +set ui_maxclients 64 +set sv_maxclients <player_count> +set sv_punkbuster 0 +set rcon_password <rcon_password> +exec general.cfg

This suggests that you have set up a maprotation and everything else in the config files within your mod folder (general.cfg etc.).

Report back if that works or if any errors occur.

my Ip address is 192.168.1.1

I haven't edited anything in the cfg files and how do I connect to my own server thru my computer?

Launch the game as usual, keep the server running. Now open the console with ~ or ^ (depends on your keyboard layout).

Type in
/connect 192.168.1.1
or
/connect localhost

hit Return and see where it goes.

EDIT: You might also find your server in the server browser and by selecting "LAN" at the top.

it keeps saying "Awaiting Challenge" link and keeps at it until timeout

also just incase here is the line that I put in the target box

1
+set fs_game Mods/rotu-r-alpha +set dedicated 1 +set net_port 28960 +set net_ip 192.168.1.1 +set ui_maxclients 64 +set sv_maxclients 10 +set sv_punkbuster 0 +set rcon_password abcdefg +exec general.cfg

and nope, nothing appears in the LAN area (A server easily appears when one is made thru the game tho)

Try changing the dedicated value to 0.

Did it and it worked but still doesn't allow map to be changed.

Also gave me something else as well "I'm an Hacking idiot, for which I now get kicked" link

Hey Guys.
I haven't tested this but:
Go to the rotu-r-alpha folder make a text file.
Put this in it:

Source code

1
2
cd ..\..\
iw3mp.exe +set fs_game "mods\rotu-r-alpha" +set g_gametype "surv" +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 28960 +set ui_maxclients 64 +set sv_maxclients 10 +set sv_punkbuster 0 +set rcon_password "abcdefg" +map mp_surv_village +exec general.cfg

Change the .txt extension to .bat.
Run the .bat file.
Open CoD4 and type " /connect localhost:28960 " in console.

Let me know if it worked or not.
If it didn't I will look into it later.
Feel free to ask for help anytime.

Still the same thing, Link
Also I have a cracked game so might that be cause of the trouble?

I wonder why he says that "localhost" can not be resolved. That is the MOST BASIC hostname a PC can have. Try replacing localhost with your local IP.

Problem is that we all usually run dedicated (Linux) servers and never really dealt with local hosting - this includes our development of the mod :/

ohhh..no wonder, I always played locally (internet is bad in our region except if you get heavy connectivity which comes with heavy price)

Well then I guess if there is no solution guess we gotta try L4D 2 now xD

We really wanted to play a game CoD type gameplay mixed with Zombies.

Your mod is soo awesome and hard in such a way that no matter how many times you fail you just wana try again and again.

Open https://www.rotu-revolution.com/download.php
Download RotU-Revolution 0.7-alpha
Open the .zip and open the UPLOAD folder then open Mods.
Extract the rotu-r-alpha file to your desktop.
Rename it to whatever you want, rotuRevo for example.
Move the folder you just renamed to your CoD4 mods folder.
Open the folder and make a .txt file like before.
Add this:

Source code

1
2
cd ..\..\
iw3mp.exe +set fs_game "mods\YourFolderName" +set g_gametype "surv" +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 28960 +set ui_maxclients 64 +set sv_maxclients 10 +set sv_punkbuster 0 +set rcon_password "abcdefg" +map mp_surv_village +exec general.cfg

Make sure the +set fs_game "mods\YourFolderName" is changed to your folder name.
Rename the .txt extension to .bat.
Run the .bat file.
Open https://whatismyipaddress.com/ copy your ip.
Open CoD4 and type this in console:
/connect ip:28960
ip should be the ip you copied from the website.

Tell me if it did work this time.
Because it works fine for me.
I always test my zombie maps in local dedicated server.
Feel free to ask for help anytime.
